Oxfordshire Rural
Community Council The Oxfordshire Rural Community Council (ORCC) is one of 38 rural community councils (RCCs) in England. Each is an independent, county-based organisation. The basic aim of every RCC is to promote thriving, sustainable rural communities and to alleviate the disadvantage experienced by many people who live in them. All RCCs are linked together through their national organisation ACRE. The eight RCCs in the South East - including ORCC - are members of the network of South East Rural Community Councils (SERCC). ORCC was founded in 1920, the first RCC in England. It is a company limited by guarantee (no. 2461552), and is registered as a charity (no. 900560). The President of ORCC is Lady Elizabeth Higgs. The Chairman of ORCC is Dr John Sharp. There is a Board of Trustees. I am one of a number of Patrons, having previously served for many years as Treasurer.
