![]() Bodicote Village is the nearest to Banbury in my County Electoral Division. This shows the splendid wrought iron village sign which stands in White Post Road. Bodicote's proximity to Banbury is a serious concern. The District Council has given permission for 1,000 houses to be built in the green fields to the east of the Oxford Road. This is not to be a part of the village nor will it be built in a village style. It is to be an urban extension and will effectively join Bodicote to Banbury. The primary school is Bishop Loveday (C of E) Primary School and is located in White Post Road, next to Cherwell District Council's offices. The headmistress is Mrs Chris Woodward; her 'phone number is 01295 263157 and her e-mail is office.3351@bishop-loveday.oxon.sch.uk . This is the link to the web site: www.bishop-loveday.oxon.sch.uk. We have our own County Council Mobile Library which calls on alternate Mondays at the Primary School from 9:45 am to 10:15 am and, in the same alternate week on Wednesday as follows: Park End: 9:20 am to 9:50 am; Weeping Cross: 9:55 am to 10:10 am; Dillon Court: 10:15 am to 10:55 am. Your District Councillors are Cllr Eric Heath (address: 17 Schofields Way, Bloxham, Oxon OX15 4NS; 'phone: 01295 720705; e-mail: eric@17schofields.freeserve.co.uk) and Cllr Miss Lynda Thirzie Smart (address: Nell Bridge House, Adderbury, Oxon OX17 3NU; 'phone 01295 812584; e-mail: lynda.thirzie@btinternet.com). Cherwell District Council deals with benefits (council tax and housing), economic development, environmental health, housing, planning, recreation and collects the council tax. Here is the link to the Cherwell Web Site: www.cherwell-dc.gov.uk. The Parish Council meets in Church House, next to the Church on the third Wednesday of most months. The Chairman is Mr Ray Phipps ('phone: 01295 250948) and the Clerk is Mrs Val Russell ('phone: 01295 256884: e-mail: bodicotepc@tiscali.co.uk). Planning Applications are decided by Cherwell District Council after seeking the Parish Council's view. The District Council is bound by national, regional and county planning rules and is under huge pressure from the current government to encourage higher densities, less car use and, above all, to build more and more homes.
