Bodicote Village is the nearest to Banbury in my County Electoral Division.  The picture to the right shows the splendid wrought iron village sign which stands in White Post Road.  Bodicote's proximity to Banbury is a serious concern.  The District Council has given permission for 1,100 houses to be built in the green fields to the east of the Oxford Road.  This is not to be a part of the village nor will it be built in a village style.  It is to be an urban extension and will effectively join Bodicote to Banbury.  The District Council has recently and most arbitrarily added another 400 houses on the fields to the east of the Oxford Road and are proposing moving the Banbury Football Club ground adjacent to the Rugby Club and fitness business in Bodicote.

The primary school is Bishop Loveday (C of E) Primary School and is located in White Post Road, next to Cherwell District Council's offices.    The headmistress is Mrs Chris Woodward; her 'phone number is 01295 263157;  click here to e-mail her.  This is the link to the Web Site.

We have our own County Council Mobile Library which calls on alternate Wednesday as follows: Park End: 9:20 am to 9:50 am; Weeping Cross: 9:55 am to 10:10 am; Dillon Court: 10:15 am to 10:55 am.

Your District Councillors are Cllr Mrs Christine Heath (address:  17 Schofields Way, Bloxham, Oxon  OX15 4NS;  'phone: 01295 720705;  Click here to e-mail her) and Cllr Miss Lynda Thirzie Smart  (address: Nell Bridge House, Adderbury, Oxon  OX17 3NU; 'phone 01295 812584; click here to e-mail her).  Cherwell District Council deals with benefits (council tax and housing), economic development, environmental health, housing, planning, recreation and collects the council tax.  Here is the link to the Cherwell Web Site.

The Parish Council meets in Church House, next to the Church on the third Wednesday of most months.   Chairman is Mr Ron Glynn ('phone: 01295 252395;  click here to e-mail him) and the Clerk is Mrs Val Russell ('phone: 01295 256884: click here to e-mail her.  The Parish Council has a web site, hosted by Cherwell District Council.  Here is a link.

Planning Applications are decided by Cherwell District Council after seeking the Parish Council's view.  The District Council is bound by national, regional and county planning rules and was under huge pressure from the last government to encourage higher densities, less car use and, above all, to build more and more homes.  Click here for a list of Planning Applications currently under consideration by Cherwell: Planning

The village magazine is called Bodicote News and the editorial contact is John Washburn ('phone: 01295 251754; click here to e-mail him).

My monthly Councillor's Village Surgery is on the first Saturday of every month, in Church House, Church Street from 10:45 am to 11:45 am. All are welcome;  I will help with any problem relating to local public services.
