a village resident. The nearest primary school for Milcombe children is Bloxham (C of E) Primary School and is located at the junction of Tadmarton Road and Courtington Lane. The headmaster is Mr Matthew Ingall. This is a link to the Web Site. We have our own County Council Mobile Library which calls calls on alternate Wednesdays in Bloxham Road from 3:50 pm to 4:30 pm. Your District Councillors are Cllr Mrs Christine Heath (address: 17 Schofields Way, Bloxham, Oxon OX15 4NS; 'phone: 01295 720705; Click here to e-mail her) and Cllr Miss Lynda Thirzie Smart (address: Nell Bridge House, Adderbury, Oxon OX17 3NU; 'phone 01295 812584; click here to e-mail her). Cherwell District Council deals with benefits (council tax and housing), economic development, environmental health, housing, planning, recreation and collects the council tax. Here is the link to the Cherwell Web Site. The Parish Council meets seven times per year (3rd Tuesday in January and May; 1st Tuesday in March, July, September and November; 4th Tuesday in April). There is also an Annual Parish Meeting held in May. The Chairman is Mr James Smith ('phone: 01295 720486; click here to e-mail him) and the Clerk is Mrs Marlene Cowell ('phone: 01295 720750: click here to e-mail her). The Parish Council has sponsored a Parish Action Plan which is the result of a village questionnaire which has been summarised and turned into an Action Plan to improve the quality of life of Milcombe residents. You can access the Milcombe Parish Action Plan by clicking here. Planning Applications are decided by Cherwell District Council after seeking the Parish Council's view. The District Council is bound by national, regional and county planning rules and was under huge pressure from the last government to encourage higher densities, less car use and, above all, to build more and more homes. Click here for a list of Planning Applications currently under consideration by Cherwell: Planning There is a Milcombe Village Web Site. The village magazine is called The Dove and the editorial contact is Hazel Davis ('phone: 01295 722936; click here to e-mail her). Click here to view the current issue and back numbers from January 2010. My monthly Councillor's Village Surgery is on the second Saturday of every month, in the Horse and Groom Public House from 12 noon to 1:00 pm. My thanks to Jim & Taryn Tyler, the landlord and landlady, who will always make a quiet place available for a private discussion where it is necessary. All are welcome; I will help with any problem relating to local public services. |
